Sonshine Acres is a year round ranch located in the Valley of Plenty, Emmett, Idaho.  Our operations are a bit different than a typical farm.  We use different growing techniques and have produce of some sort almost 10 months out of the year.  Sometimes it may just be plant start seedlings, which allow us to have larger plants ready earlier in the growing season.  The produce changes with the season.  Early on we will have crops that do well in the cooler weather.  Things like lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, beets, radish, carrots, potatoes, and more.  As the temperatures warm up we start to add on things like tomatoes and corn.  Then with the even warmer weather, we will have zucchini, pumpkin, pepper, and more.  The reverse happens in the late summer, early fall.  We can do another planting of things like potatoes, beets, and items that we can harvest right before the winter weather sets in.  We try our best to fill special variety orders as well as bulk orders for pickling and canning.

On the animal side our main herd is our Katahdin sheep.  They are a hair breed.  We typically sell spring lambs, but also fill orders for older sheep and even things like bred ewes.  Other breeds of sheep will also come and go on our ranch.  Other animals we may raise for a season or change from year to year.  Goats, pigs, and geese fall into this category.  We raise the large white New Zealand rabbits.  We have duck and therefore, duck eggs and ducklings at times.  The same goes for chickens.  We raise a few larger breeds that allow us to continue egg production into the winter months a bit.  Keep in m ind that the normal cycle is to raise up the new animal babies in early Spring and then we sell off most before winter sets in.  We do take pre-orders and special orders as able.
